Not properly stopped when installed

Cause

Building movement; earthquake shaking 

Repair

  • if cracking or damage of cornices/ceiling rose is not too severe, fill gaps or cracks wider than 3 mm with gypsum stopping compound according to manufacturer’s instructions then sand, seal and paint
  • for large areas of damage, the cornices may need to be replaced
