Concrete wall – rust stains

Cause
Corroded reinforcing steel caused by moisture getting into the concrete as a result of poor quality concrete and/or the reinforcing being too close to the surface of the concrete
Repair
- for small areas of rusting (150–200 mm2 maximum), remove loose concrete and expose reinforcing to expose unrusted reinforcing; wire brush to remove loose rust; apply zinc-rich paint to reinforcing; fill hole with cement plaster or epoxy plaster
