Fibrous plaster cornices or ceiling roses cracked

Cause

Repair
- if cracking or damage of cornices/ceiling rose is not too severe:
- remove loose or flaky plaster
- wipe the area with a damp cloth to remove dust
- fill gaps or cracks wider than 3 mm with appropriate filler material
- apply fibreglass tape to cracks; if the tape doesn’t adhere, apply a thin layer of gypsum stopping compound to bed the tape into
- apply gypsum stopping compound according to manufacturer’s instructions
- sand, prime and paint to match the ceiling finish
- for large areas of damage, the cornices/ceiling rose may need to be replaced
