Cause

Inadequate fixing along the front edge of tiles

Repair

  • if the tiles were installed in recent years, call back the installer to make the repairs
  • check the manufacturer’s recommendation for fixing the tiles
  • where this is not known, install extra 50 x 2.8 mm hot-dipped galvanised flat-head annular-grooved nails to the top front edges of lifting tiles. Use neoprene washers containing no more than 15% by weight carbon black content. (You can find fixing details in section 8.3.7 and Figure 36 of Building Code Acceptable Solution E2/AS1.)
