Repair

  • lightly sand if necessary to remove drips, lines and any heavy marks, removing sanding dust off the surface before you repaint

  • apply another coat of paint. The roller nap should be saturated with paint before painting begins. Work it on the ribbed section of the paint tray to distribute paint evenly

  • ensure there is sufficient paint for the area being covered – trying to squeeze too much paint out of a roller can give a poor surface finish

  • move the roller in the same direction as earlier coats, finishing with light, long vertical strokes.

  • where roller marks are visible after a second good coat, it may be that the original surface was not cleaned and primed effectively, the wrong type of paint or roller is being used for the surface or the roller is of poor quality
