Path/driveway – concrete slippery
Listed under: concrete and cement, Section, paths and paving, driveways
Cause
Moss growth
Repair
-
wash down with a solution of 1 part household bleach to 4 parts water, or use a proprietary moss killer, then rinse off thoroughly. Ensure that none of the cleaning or rinsing liquid runs into a garden or stormwater drain
-
if moss growth is caused by heavy planting over or around a path or driveway, consider pruning to allow in more light and wind that will dry the path faster when it gets wet
-
if rainwater runs from a house or garden onto a path or driveway and then sits on the concrete, look at drainage options to direct the water away from the path
-
there are proprietary coatings available for giving exterior concrete a non-slip finish.
Cause
Build-up of dirt
Repair
- waterblast the concrete, but be aware that waterblasting may remove some of the surface of the old concrete.
