Repair

  • uPVC claddings are typically formed to give the appearance of rusticated or bevel-back weatherboards. They are proprietary systems, with accessories such as joiners and corner mouldings also available in uPVC in the same colour as the cladding. Because they are proprietary systems, the manufacturer/supplier of the product should be contacted for matching products

  • if the installation is relatively new, the builder/installer should be called back to make the repairs

  • under the Building Act, from the date that building work is complete there is an automatic 12-month period for the client to identify defective work. The contractor must remedy, within a reasonable timeframe, any defects notified by the client in writing

  • homeowners can also take action for up to 10 years after building work is completed if implied warranties set out in the Building Act have not been met. Implied warranties include things such as the work being done competently, with reasonable care and skill, and in accordance with the plans and specifications that formed part of the building consent
