Repair

  • solar water heaters are usually proprietary systems. In the first instance call the supplier or installer for advice. They are more likely to have spare parts. They may require work be carried out by an authorised contractor, although in some cases suppliers allow registered plumbers to make repairs

  • DIY repairs may void any remaining warranty on the system

  • be aware that some systems are not intended for use in areas prone to frost and do not carry any warranty if installed in these areas

  • once the system has been repaired, start a regular maintenance routine, checking and giving a quick wash at least once a year

  • some manufacturers recommend a service check by an authorised agent every five years
