Exposure to air-borne salt, dust or dirt
Repair
- if the steel is sound, sand to remove corrosion and prime with a zinc-rich primer. Paint with at least two coats of acrylic paint
- if corrosion is severe, consult a chartered professional engineer for repair advice
- replace rusted fixings
