Fibre-cement shingles – cracked or damaged

Cause
Surface degradation due to age
Repair
- replace damaged shingles if replacements can be found
- where only a few shingles/shakes are damaged and no replacement can be found, a temporary repair may be made using butyl rubber, flat galvanised steel or flat zinc/aluminium alloy-coated steel
- where more shingles/shakes are damaged, the roof should be replaced. A building consent will be required as a different roof cladding will have to be used.

Careless walking on the roof, or impact damage from cricket balls or other hard objects
