  • sheet membrane systems typically do not require painting – they are usually designed to have good UV resistance. Where a coating on a membrane is being considered, contact the membrane supplier or manufacturer for advice

  • in some cases, manufacturers recommend certain types of coatings. Do not use paint designed to cover profiled metal or any other type of roofing material – this may void the membrane warranty

  • preparation for applying a coating to membrane may be as simple as washing with sugar soap or may require the complete removal of the previous coating by mechanical means ¬– follow the manufacturers’ advice
