Decking and framing was installed hard against the building cladding

Cause
Decking and framing was installed hard against the building cladding
Repair
- create a separation of the deck and building cladding: temporarily support the deck adjacent to the building, remove stringer and re-install with 10 mm minimum packing off the wall cladding to provide drainage. Re-fix joists to stringer. Ensure decking also has a minimum 10 mm clearance from the cladding to provide drainage
- where it is suspected that the building may be leaking and there is a risk of damage, engage a building surveyor to report on the building
