Timber trims – chalking paint

Cause
Weathering, UV light exposure – chalking will be more visible with darker colours
Repair

wash surface thoroughly then sand lightly. If necessary, fill joints with putty or exterior grade flexible (polyester) filler. Paint with a minimum two coats of semi-gloss or high gloss acrylic paint

select paint of a lighter colour where possible to make chalking less likely or less visible in future
