Cause
Insufficient corrosion protection for the environment
Repair
- for minor rusting, sand off the red rust, apply zinc rich primer and a metal primer then apply two finish coats
- replace severely corroded members

Lack of cleaning and/or coating maintenance on painted non-galvanised beams/posts

- temporarily support structure, remove beam or post and have them professionally prepared and galvanised
- replace severely corroded members
