Plywood cladding – fading paint
Listed under: Exterior, timber and wood-based, plywood, cladding, walls, wall cladding, plywood sheets or planks
Cause
Weathering UV light exposure – darker colours are more prone to fading
Repair
-
wash surface, allow to dry then sand lightly. If necessary, fill joints with putty or exterior grade flexible (polyester) filler. Paint with a minimum two coats of semi-gloss or high gloss acrylic paint
-
select paint of a lighter colour where possible – darker colours can fade. They can also attract heat, which causes greater expansion/contraction of the timber and thus a reduced lifespan for the paintwork
