The following facilities, services or features may also benefit from a check or servicing every few years by the supplier, installer or a licensed/qualified tradesperson:

  • hot water floor heating systems
  • heat pumps
  • heat pump water heaters
  • in-roof ventilation systems
  • wood and wood pellet burners.

There are often simple maintenance tasks on these appliances that homeowners can do themselves. Cleaning heat pump filters is one example. Generally there is a front panel that can be removed and opened, giving access to the filter(s). Slide out the filter and clean using a vacuum cleaner, a soft brush or warm water and a soft cloth. If using water, allow the filter to dry before sliding it back into place. Clean filters every 2–4 weeks when the heat pump gets very high use.
